Dualities

This piece consists of a video installation on a semitransparent screen using dual projection.
It duels on the sentiment of being in between two places,  São Miguel island and the city of Porto, and the inability to choose one to  claim as home. By overlaying images of both territories on the same surface, the projections interact and merge, creating a hybrid third space.

The soundscape mixes characteristic audio textures from both locations to emphasize the space’s indeterminate identity. The artist’s grandmother’s voice performs excerpts of the Popular chant "Verdes são os Campos" further  structuring the piece’s sonic and visual narrative.
